Unfortunately, Paula’s hip got infected 3 days ago.

X-rays just showed that he has to get operated.
The operation is to take place in Samoa the 17th of May. That’s why Paula has to postpone his departure to Samoa on a popao.

15.7.01
Paula went to Samoa but couldn’t get operated because of a severe osteomyelitis in his hip.
He shows us the wound and wants us to take it on picture.
He had spent several weeks in a samoan hospital and finally came back to Tonga. Paula is still taking antibiotics when he remembers to and he's still having pain in his left hip.

Somewhen in between:
Paula feels a little better and his hip pain occasionally calms down.
Together with a true friend of his we take him diving to re-accustom him to scuba diving although he cannot push forward with his left leg.
Paula needs help to get out of the boat and feels weak under water.
But he's happy to be diving again after his accident!

7.12.01
We meet Paula by chance in a bar in Tongatapu.

He tells us how much he is frustrated not having been operated.

Recent X-rays made the medical counsil decide against an operation, as it would not be of any help anymore.

Paula doubts, that he will ever be able to realise his formers plans, as the hip still causes him much pain.

He orders another beer to kill it.

15.07.02
Friends tell us that Paula finally has adapted pretty well to his handicap.

He re-started his life and found work as a divemaster at the dive shop Deep Blue Diving in Tongatapu...
